The
Alliance Sets Strategic Focus
A new strategic focus for the
Alliance for Quality Teaching was decided at the September 1st Board of Directors meeting. The
Alliance will work to address the broad goal of closing the teacher quality gap in
Colorado . Under this goal, the
Alliance will also work to advance teacher compensation systems that help attract quality teachers to hard-to-serve schools, and effective professional development to help equip those teachers with the tools and methods to succeed in those schools. The
Alliance will partake in active public outreach to help advance these goals by informing the community of the issues surrounding the teacher quality gap in
Colorado and build public support for actions to help close this gap.
AQT Appoints New Executive Director
The Alliance for Quality Teaching has appointed Jacqueline J. Paone as Executive Director. Paone, currently the Executive Director of the Erie County Association of School Boards (ECASB) in West Seneca, New York, will begin her work with the Alliance on January 18, 2006.
Paone will replace Tim Westerberg who has served as Interim Executive Director during the transition phase of establishing a formal not-for-profit with an expanded board of directors. The Alliance sincerely thanks Tim for his stellar work and looks foward to his continued work as a member of the Executive Committee of the Alliance Board of Directors.
